Printing Method Comparison

These are selection checkpoints, not a promise that every method is offered. Confirm availability and support for UV printing and labels first.

Features, design suitability, benefits, and limitations of silk screen, UV printing, transfer, and labels
MethodFeaturesDesign SuitabilityBenefits / Reasons to ConsiderLimitations / Checks
Silk ScreenPrinting directly on the glass surfaceBrand logos, patterns, and graphicsA direct-print option for vivid color and adhesionReview samples and quotes by color count, area, and finish combination
UV PrintingConfirm the printing method and availability separately from UV coatingFor multicolor graphics, ask which details can be reproducedEvaluate whether the desired colors and graphics can be achievedConfirm availability, design suitability, and adhesion; not a universal option
Transfer / DecalTransfer printing can be reviewed for logos; ask about decal specificationsBrand logos; submit artwork to review other patternsAn alternative to compare with direct printing for a logoConfirm curved-surface coverage, color, and durability on actual samples
LabelCompare a label-based design with direct printing; ask about supply and application supportReview artwork that places text and graphics on a labelAllows a separate label design to be compared with bottle printingReview application area, appearance, and formulation contact; do not assume lower cost or greater durability

For combinations of printing, coating, and foil, see the Surface Finishing Guide. Finalize the method after reviewing the container, artwork, and finished sample.

02

Curves & Color Count

A flat artwork file alone does not finalize cosmetic container printing. Review the bottle shape and color count against the actual print area.

Curves & Print Area
Areas such as the body and shoulder need separate coverage review as the curvature changes. Mark the position and area on the product drawing, then check readability and appearance on an actual bottle sample.
Number of Colors
Color count is the number of colors used in printing. Since color count and method affect the quote, review spot colors and areas where colors meet together. Confirm maximum color count and curved-surface limits for each product.

03

Artwork Preparation

Share the logo file, color references, print position, and coverage together so sample and quote conditions can be reviewed.

Vector Files: AI / EPS
Prepare the vector logo source and use AI as a starting point for submission. The published file guidance is AI/PDF. If you only have an EPS source, confirm acceptance and any conversion requirement first.
Spot Colors & Pantone
Identify spot colors with Pantone references. Pantone-based color matching is available; coated colors can vary with glass material characteristics, so confirm the final color with a sample.
Mark the Print Area
Include the product name or link and mark the artwork position and coverage. Distinguish printing from coating, foil, or other finishing areas so the combination can be reviewed together.
Minimum Line & Type Size
Check fine lines and small text at actual print size. Rather than using a universal minimum line thickness or font size, confirm the working requirements and sample for the selected bottle and printing method.

04

Glass, Adhesion & Durability

Do not judge glass bottle print adhesion and durability from the glass material name alone. Review the actual surface finish and formulation conditions together.

Material & Surface Review
Review samples with the glass material and surface treatment, such as color or frosted-look coating, clearly identified. Do not assume a material ranking or equal durability. Check the adhesion and abrasion testing scope described in the quality guide.
Formulation & Alcohol Contact
Share formulation ingredients and any expected alcohol contact. Distinguish chemical compatibility with cosmetic ingredients from external print durability, and agree on test conditions and approval criteria first. Resistance at a particular concentration or contact duration is not universally guaranteed.

05

Factors That Affect Cost

Cosmetic printing quotes are calculated upon inquiry after reviewing color count, area, printing method, combined finishes, and quantity.

Colors, Area & Method
Even the same logo can have different quote conditions depending on color count, print area, and method. Define artwork colors and coverage before comparing quotes; do not rank costs by method alone.
Combined Finishes & Quantity
Combinations of coating, printing, metallization, and foil affect processes and costs. Share total quantity, the product and color split, and sample approval timing. MOQ varies by product and finishing specification, and additional processes can extend lead time.

Pre-Order Checklist

Align sample approval criteria using the artwork, actual container, and intended use conditions.

  • Product name or link, glass material, and surface finish
  • Preferred printing method and the position and area on the curved surface
  • Vector source, submission format, and sample review of fine lines and small text
  • Color count, Pantone spot-color references, and combined coating or foil finishes
  • Formulation and alcohol contact conditions, plus adhesion, abrasion, and chemical compatibility review
  • Total and per-color quantities, product-specific MOQ, sample approval criteria, and target delivery

FAQ

Frequently Asked Questions

Which files and details should we prepare for a cosmetic container printing inquiry?

Prepare the product name or link, logo file, print position and area, color count, and Pantone references. The published file guidance is AI/PDF; if you only have an EPS source, confirm acceptance and conversion requirements first. Review fine lines and small text on a sample at actual print size.

Does glass bottle printing withstand formulation or alcohol contact?

Resistance is not guaranteed by the glass material name or printing method alone. Share the actual surface finish, formulation ingredients, and alcohol contact conditions, then agree on adhesion, abrasion, chemical compatibility review, and approval criteria. Confirm suitability with the selected container and finished sample.

Which conditions affect cosmetic printing costs?

Color count, print area and method, combined finishes such as coating, metallization or foil, total quantity, and the product and color split affect the quote. MOQ varies by product and finishing specification; pricing is calculated upon inquiry after reviewing artwork and order conditions.
